Our mission
FileConverter was founded to solve the "upload and pray" problem. We provide a high-performance file compression utility andarchive converter platform that eliminates the need for untrusted desktop software. Our team of software engineers is dedicated to building tools that respect user privacy while delivering professional-grade conversion quality for documents, media, and data archives.
A Professional-Grade Utility Platform
Beyond a simple format switcher, FileConverter is designed as a deep utility platform. We optimize for specific professional use cases: standardizing legal documents as PDF, preparing web-optimized images for high-speed site performance, and managing large data payloads through industrial-strength ZIP and RAR processing.
How it works
- Client-side first: Where possible (notably much audio and video work), conversions run in your browser using WebAssembly. Those files never need to leave your device.
- Ephemeral processing: When a format needs the server, we process in memory and discard inputs/outputs as soon as the job completes. We do not operate a personal media library for users.
- Optional accounts: Core conversion does not require sign-in. Team branding features are optional and documented separately.
Editorial and policies
We publish original guidance on the Guides page and keep legal notices in Privacy and Terms. Advertising helps fund free tiers; we aim to pair ads with pages that include real explanatory content, not empty shells or pure navigation screens.
